Join oopoomoo photographer Darwin Wiggett and Aurum Lodge host Alan Ernst on this nature photography tour. The date for this event, at the beginning of the winter season, was chosen to accommodate the many requests for dawn and dusk skies and the combination of open water and ice. Early November is generally the best time of year for colourful sunrises and sunsets, warm light throughout the day with a low angled sun, clear skies without haze (ideal for nighttime photography and star trails too), mist rising off the water in the mornings and a combination of open water and ice along the shore lines of Abraham Lake and our many rivers. Usually, at this time of year, the mountain tops will be covered in snow, whereas the valley bottoms may still be dry or only have a light snow cover. However, temperatures can be significantly below freezing already and there is a possibility of snow squalls of course. Thus, as always, participants should be prepared for everything.

Please note that this is not a teaching style photo workshop but rather an intense photo tour emphasizing maximum time and opportunity for field photography. Darwin Wiggett and Alan Ernst know the area intimately and will guide you to the right spots and the secret stops at the right time so you can make fantastic late fall/early winter images. Please note that these tours are for people with a keen interest in photography who want in-depth immersion into field photography with a group of like-minded individuals (six to seven participants max). In all tours there will be ample opportunity to share experiences and techniques with other participants. Please be advised that you should be fit enough to hike with your gear for at least 3-4 hours per day.
