Ditches and Gutters - Emerging Patterns

Photography can reveal ideas, directions and feelings within the subconscious mind of the creator. Last April Samantha and I started our project on ditches and gutters where we explored the overlooked, the mundane, the beauty and the repulsive in ditches and gutters. From our first outing I noticed a pattern emerge in my own work and that was dynamic abstraction. Most of my photos from ditches and gutter shoots seem to have layers of subjects arranged in diagonal patterns which on a whole revealed an abstract interpretation of reality. Even from this very first outing this style of capture revealed itself. It will be interesting to process the images from our other shoots to see if this style emerges even stronger.
