Four New oopoomoo Photo Talks
January 25, 2012 · Samantha · Announcements · 12 CommentsDarwin and I am happy to announce four new oopoomoo Talks in Cochrane, Alberta for the spring of 2012. Check out the talks below and if any of them interest you just click on the title for a detailed description. And anyone who knows about our talks, tours and workshops will tell you that the first person to sign up always gets a great prize (hint, hint; don’t delay!)
Raw vs JPEG: Which One is Right for You? - Feb 18, 2012
Think you know raw and JPEG? Well think again! In this talk Samantha and Darwin will demystify the myths surrounding raw and JPEG. They will show how these different image formats require vastly different approaches to get optimal results. Even the most advanced shooter will come away with a new appreciation for how raw and JPEG serve different needs.
The Tilt-Shift Lens Advantage for Outdoor and Nature Photographers – March 10, 2012
Discover why Tilt-Shift Lenses are the hottest lenses in nature and landscape photography! Learn the benefits of tilting for precise control over the plane of focus and learn how using shift gives you awesome control over perspective correction. Tilt-Shift lenses also open up the world of panoramic and stitched image photography without need for specialized accessories (because the lenses cost enough!)
Essential Filters for Digital Nature Photography – March 24, 2012
In this day and age of HDR imagery and sophisticated processing software, you may think that the lowly filter is a thing of the past. But some filters are just as important as ever! Darwin and Samantha will show you which camera filters you can use to create evocative imagery and save time in post-processing. As well, find out which filters deliver effects that can’t be replicated in software no matter how talented you are at the computer. Come see why every digital photographer should still be using filters!
Easy Outdoor Dog Photography – April 28, 2012
Being good at making great images of your dog requires only a few key skills. You don’t need fancy equipment, expensive gear or the patience of an angel but you need a basic understanding of dog behaviour and some basic camera and lighting knowledge. Come and learn from Samantha and Darwin what it takes to make fun, story-telling photos of your pooch!
We hope to see you at a Talk!

Darwin/Sam,
Any way us out-of-towners can acquire the PDF Notes from your scheduled talks afterwards?

Hi Guys!
Ditto randy smith s comment. I live in NZ but am a keen follower of your blog. Usually drooling for your talks and has downloaded all your filter ebooks and some more. Any way us at the bottom of the world can get your notes preferably via the net at a payment of course.
Kiwi greetings

Can I bring Molly for the Dog Photography talk? If there’s free cookies she would be willing to be a model

Looks like there are a few ahead of me with same request – I live in Italy – a long way for a 2 hour workshop. Any chance of purchasing the pdf on tilt-shift? Many thanks, Sarah

Hey Randy, Rosaleen and Sarah,
The PDF notes are specific to each talk and are not available except to those people who come to the talk.
But not to worry, the content of many of our talks will be turned into eBooks that will be for sale here on oopoomoo for those too far away to come see us in person. Stay tuned for those soon.

Dear Darwin and Samantha, I wish I could be there, your subject seem sooo interesting. Maybe some day… Oh, I just read that you’ll have some e-book available, how cool!
I really love the first photo, the mood is gorgous! The poppy as an adorable expression
Good luck with your photo talks.

Seems there is quite a demand from “out of towners” for your presentations. I am in the same position, in that I would love to partake in your sessions , but am unable to attend. Would be very much interested to purchase a e-book, or whatever other format your presentation might be available in.
Cheers, Niels

Hi Richard,
Darwin is away on tour with intermittent internet access so I’ll take a stab at this and he can correct me if I’m wrong.
It’s probably his Canon 24mm TS-E lens. Unless it’s a stitch…
